Webcentral doesn’t support some devices and the usage of these devices are at your own risk. These devices include medical alarms, monitored fire alarms and lift emergency phones.
The access technology type is an nbn™️ term for how your premises will connect to the nbn™️ network. There are multiple technologies in use including
You won’t need to worry about technology type you connect with as your access technology type will depend on where you’re located and what technology types are available to that premises. After submitting your order, your access technology type will be displayed in your welcome email along with other key information about your order.
Some premises also have access to multiple technology types depending on if they are in an area that is scheduled to be upgraded to FTTP (Fibre to the Premises). If you’re an eligible customer, then we’ll contact you when Webcentral releases our FTTP Upgrade Offers.
If there has been a previous nbn™ connection at your premises the standard time frame is generally a few hours and a visit from an nbn™️ technician is typically not required.
If your address has not been connected to the nbn™ before, the standard time frame can be anywhere up to 20 business days and is dependent on your nbn™ access technology type and technician availability. Your nbn™ access technology will determine the exact method of installation for your technician.
For connections to premises that are already connected to the nbn™ via FTTN/FTTB/FTTP or HFC technology there may be a small period of downtime when switching to Webcentral. This period is normally between 5 – 20 minutes.
Webcentral offers unlimited nbn™ plans that will not increase congestion on our networks, ensuring our customers receive the quality internet speeds and service.
The nbn™ (National Broadband Network) was a government initiative that upgraded Australia’s national broadband infrastructure. The goal was to provide the majority of Australians with faster broadband speeds at affordable prices, with minimal costs for the project. The earliest customers were connected in 2010. The government officially declared the rollout to be complete in December 2020. However, tens of thousands of homes remain to be connected and NBNCo will continue by focusing on upgrades at least until 2023, to deliver faster speeds. Some of these include areas with Fibre to the Node (FTTN) technology, which will be upgraded to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP).
Although the nbn™ was undertaken by NBNCo, households and businesses connect to the nbn™ through their choice of retailer (internet service provider or ISP), such as Webcentral, as for any type of internet connection. In turn, the ISP purchases wholesale services from NBNCo. The nbn™ uses different connection types or technologies such as fibre, existing copper telephone wire, existing HFC cable (pay TV cabling). These vary depending on your location. Webcentral Broadband offers a range of plans to suit your needs.
The easiest way to find out whether it’s available to your premises is by using our plan finder. Webcentral offers a range of nbn™ plans to suit your requirements.
